The Center for Neurotheological Counseling upholds the principles of biblical counseling, as we are dedicated to the authoritative Truth found in the WORD of GOD. Our Counselors and Therapists acknowledge that human beings grapple with both biological and soul-focused issues, making our approach distinctive.

The Center for Neurotheological Biblical Counseling affirms the importance of Biblical Counseling because we are dedicated to the authority of the WORD of GOD as the ultimate Truth. Authentic change begins with TRUST in YHVH and His Word, and the jurisdiction of counseling rests within His Authority.
When we discuss Neurotheological Counseling, we highlight 'the ministry of the Word of God,' tailored specifically for individuals seeking guidance. Our Counselors and Therapists acknowledge that human beings grapple with both biological and soul-focused issues, making our approach distinctive.
While there are significant nuances to Neurotheological Counseling—such as qualifications and methods—Biblical Counseling is fundamentally about the sufficient WORD of GOD, customized for each person. Importantly, Neurotheological Counseling does not dismiss the insights from GOD regarding the biological aspects of Brain Health.
Neurotheological Biblical Counseling facilitates the 'renewing of the mind,' which is crucial in our practice. This approach is essentially a 'study of the soul' or the 'science of Brain (mind) and behavior.' Unlike secular psychology, Neurotheological Counseling prioritizes the care of the Soul.
Our method insists that to engage in any form of 'psychology,' one must be grounded in the authority of GOD's WORD to accurately articulate the nature of soulful human behavior. This foundational TRUTH is what distinguishes the 'psychology' of Neurotheological Biblical Counseling from secular psychology.
We emphasize the jurisdiction of Soul Care. Secular psychology has encroached upon this vital domain of Soulological care. Historically, the responsibility for counseling—specifically Soul Care—has rested with Ministers who recognize GOD's WORD as the authoritative Truth. In contrast, secular psychology has overwhelmingly hijacked this domain. Some argue that 'Biblical Psychology' is an oxymoron; however, it is secular psychology that truly represents a contradiction.
The Hebrew term for SOUL is NShMH (Strong’s h5397 psychē), which is reflected in Genesis 2:7: 'And Yehovah, God formed (THOUGHT) the man out of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath (Strong’s h5397 psychē - Soul) of life, and man became a living being.' Strong's Number G5590 corresponds to the Greek ψυχή (psychē).
It's important to note that long before psychology entered the English lexicon, the concept of the 'psyche' was well-established in ancient Hebrew and continued through Greek. Therefore, secular society does not have exclusive ownership of the term 'psychology,' which means the study (ology) of the psyche, the SOUL. Ministers are tasked with guiding and healing the Soul.
Secular psychology attempts to perform face-to-face ministry work under a different 'god' (human) using a distinct voice. In contrast, Biblical Psychology (Neurotheology) acknowledges that the true 'renewing of the mind' and reconnection of the 'Soul' can only take place within the jurisdictional domain of GOD's authority. This is why authentic Soulology cannot be practiced by someone who does not trust the human has a SOUL or in the Truth of GOD's WORD.
Neurotheological Counseling reaffirms that genuine 'renewing of the mind' and reconnection of the Soul is only achievable within the jurisdictional domain of GOD's authority. This truth underscores that Soulology cannot be executed by someone who lacks faith in the Truth of GOD's WORD.
How can anyone who does not trust in the Truth of GOD's WORD, or recognize His authority over the Soul, genuinely assist another person in achieving authentic change?
How can those who are blind to Soulological realities effectively help others navigate these same realities?
Based on Neuro-Theology
Many individuals face challenges such as ADD/ADHD, anger issues including Intermittent Explosive Disorder (IED), anxiety, and Autism Spectrum Disorder. Others may struggle with behavioral addictions, borderline disorder, or the effects of concussions and mild TBI. Mental health concerns like depression, dissociative disorders, and drugs and alcohol addiction are prevalent, alongside eating disorders and emotional trauma. Learning disabilities, memory problems, OCD, ODD, and panic disorders with panic attacks can also significantly impact lives. Furthermore, PTSD and postpartum depression, self-esteem issues, self-harm, sleep disorders, stress, and even suicidal thoughts are critical areas addressed in biblical counseling. Integrating insights from neurotheology, the School of Ministry provides resources through soul care courses to help individuals navigate these challenges effectively.
Your Brain Is The Bedrock Of Your Thoughts, Connection To Your Soul. Your Brain is the most complex, mind-blowing organ in the universe. Weighing about 3.5 lbs and floating in a hard bony case, the Brain is home to an estimated 100 billion nerve cells, with more connections than there are stars in the universe. This intricate network also includes trillions of supportive cells. Each neuron communicates with up to 40,000 other neurons through individual connections known as synapses. In fact, a piece of Brain tissue the size of a grain of sand contains 100,000 neurons and 1 billion synapses, all “talking” to one another, while information in your Brain travels at about 268 miles per hour. If you don’t take care of your Brain, you lose on average 85,000 Brain cells a day, leading to Brain aging. However, with proper care and insights from biblical counseling and neurotheology, you can reverse this trend. Engaging in soul care courses and participating in a school of ministry can provide the knowledge needed to dramatically slow the aging process and enhance your mental agility.
Individual Therapy, also known as Neurotheological Counseling, is an extensively researched and effective approach that addresses emotional dysregulation and social problems in individuals with various concerns. This interactive process of self-discovery occurs between you and a qualified, certified brain health professional in a safe, caring, and confidential environment.
Neurotheological Biblical Counseling, especially when brain imaging has been performed, is particularly successful in addressing specific brain health issues. By optimizing your brain through this form of counseling, you are more likely to feel motivated to change the aspects of your life that no longer serve you or contribute to your difficulties. Enhanced brain health also supports your ability to adhere to the new approaches, techniques, or ways of thinking learned in therapy. Additionally, many find that integrating principles from the school of ministry and participating in soul care courses can further enrich their therapeutic journey.
No one ever said that marriage or being in a relationship was easy! Children, illness, financial problems, and stress can all take their toll. What is often overlooked is that brain function determines the behavior of each partner. This is where the insights from neurotheology come into play, as your brain is the organ of character, personality, and every decision you make. If the brain isn’t functioning properly, even the strongest of relationships can degrade over time.
It is important to understand that God does not change couples; He changes men and women, helping them become more aware of a godly-defined relationship. This is a key principle taught in many biblical counseling contexts. There is one absolute truth that must be accepted: couples cannot change each other, and in fact, they can't even change themselves. It is the choice of relationship with God that heals the person for change, a vital lesson often emphasized in soul care courses and the school of ministry.
Is someone in your family struggling with a mental health problem, addiction, memory loss, or other cognitive or behavioral issues? Then you know first-hand that when one person is suffering, the whole family suffers. Most people want to blame all the stress and drama on that one individual, but in reality, each family member (and their brain) contributes to the dysfunctional dynamic. By examining the brains of the entire family, it can shed light on any family dysfunction. At Friedel Clinic, when they scan entire families, they often discover that one or more family members have a diagnosable brain health condition that has gone undetected. This knowledge is critical, especially when integrating principles from biblical counseling and neurotheology, which emphasize the connection between mental health and spiritual well-being. Without this understanding, the family unit would likely continue to struggle. With insights into brain health issues within the family, family therapy, including techniques taught in soul care courses, can help address specific issues, improve relational skills, and build stronger relationships. Additionally, those interested may find resources through a school of ministry that support these therapeutic approaches.
Torah Therapy is an evidence-based, action-oriented approach rooted in neurotheology and biblical counseling, focusing on the cognitive and behavioral aspects of individuals. Each thought triggers your brain to release powerful chemicals that influence your feelings and actions. Positive thoughts can lead to happiness, motivation, and relaxation, whereas negative thoughts may result in feelings of sadness, anger, anxiety, and a sense of being out of control. The challenge lies in the tendency of many people to accept their negative thoughts as truths without assessing and questioning them. If left unaddressed, these automatic negative thoughts (ANTs) can significantly impact your life. Torah Therapy aims to rectify these negative thinking patterns by teaching accurate and positive thinking skills, which can ultimately transform your behavior and enhance your mood, motivation, and determination. Research indicates that these methods can be more effective than traditional antidepressant medication for managing anxiety and depression. This approach aligns with the principles taught in soul care courses, making it a valuable resource for those involved in a school of ministry.

Explanation of Ministerial Credentials and Clergy
Many individuals who inquire about NCCA's licensing program are ordained ministers. These individuals can complete the requirements and be licensed as a Licensed Pastoral Counselor or Licensed Clinical Christian Counselor. They can counsel anywhere in the U.S. of America and accept remuneration for this service (following state and local guidelines) without being affiliated with any state agency, i.e., without being state-licensed. This truth is because the laws governing counseling in all states exempt the "Clergy" from submitting to its (the state's) authority.
The First Amendment of our Constitution requires such exemption: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof:"
The call to counsel is just as real for them. They do not want to be state-licensed and most certainly do not want to relinquish their right to represent YHVH GOD in their counseling ministry. They want to answer and fulfill His call on their lives. Indeed, some are called to the high office of the Clergy. These persons should be ordained (set aside) by service and approved to perform all the duties of the Clergy. However, there are many other types of Ministers or Clergy. For example, Ministers of Music, Chaplains, Ministers of Administration, Missionaries, Youth Ministers, etc. All of these offices are understood by the state and federal government to be "Clergy."
PROFESSIONAL COUNSELING LAWS in the STATE of MONTANA
37-39-303. Exemptions from licensure. The license and certification requirements of this chapter do not prohibit:
(1) a member of another profession from performing duties and services consistent with the individual's licensure or certification or, in the case of a qualified member of another profession who is not licensed or certified, from performing duties and services consistent with the person's training, as long as the person does not represent by title that the person is licensed by the board;
(2) an activity or service or use of an official title by a person employed by or acting as a volunteer for a federal, state, county, or municipal agency or an educational, research, or charitable institution that is a part of the duties of the office or position;
(3) an activity or service of an employee of a business establishment performed solely for the benefit of the establishment's employees; or
(4) an activity or service of a student, intern, or resident in behavioral health counseling pursuing a course of study at an accredited university or college or working in a generally recognized training program if the activity or service constitutes a part of a supervised course of study.
