    Why Neurotheological Biblical Counseling, and NOT secular psychological counseling? 

This question warrants answering. 

    Joshua Bible College and Neurotheology Biblical Counseling Clinic is dedicated to Biblical Counseling and Brain Health Coaching. 

    It is the superiority of GOD's WORD over human wisdom and the TRUST in the sufficiency GOD's WORD we have in the power and authority of the Word of God that we are committed to. Make no mistake, Neurotheology Biblical Counseling accept the revelation from GOD that the need for Brain Health science, as part of biological needs, must be addressed to balance the needs of those seeking, through Theology, a relationship with our Creator.

"Because you are a unique people belonging to YHVH, your God, and YHVH chose you to exist for him for a people, a jewel from all the people which are upon the face of the ground." (Deu. 14:2)

    Joshua Bible College affirms that the only means of authentic change begins with TRUST in the WORD of GOD. The ultimate jurisdiction of counseling falls within His Authority and not secular psychology. 

    Our commitment to  Neurotheological Biblical Counseling is an outworking of our commitment to these Truths. 

Rabbi Rich developed what he calls the 7 pillars of Neurotheology.

1. A healthier brain means a more balanced brain

2. A balanced brain builds more brain reserve

3. More brain reserve opens perception, allowing for growth

4. A broader perception opens a broader prospective bridge to theology

5. An understanding of theology (LIFE's philosophy) reduces fear

6. A reduction in fear equals security, and the ability to understand existence's meaningful purpose

7. Understanding the purpose of existence allows for the discovery of what is beyond existence, the meaning of "LIFE."

Your brain is the hardware for your soul. It is the gateway of your very essence as a human to release your SOUL into this world.

    You cannot be who you really are unless your brain works right. How your brain works determines how happy you are, how effective you feel, and how well you interact with others.

Your brain patterns help you (or hurt you) with your marriage, parenting skills, work, and religious beliefs, along with your experiences of pleasure and pain.

    If you are anxious, depressed, obsessive-compulsive, prone to anger, or easily distracted, you probably believe these problems are “all in your head.” Alternatively, you may think they are all in your choices. In other words, you think your problem is purely psychological or, in the alternative, in your soul.

    However, research shows that some problems are related to brain physiology, and the good news is that we have proof that you can change that physiology. With a healthier Brain, you can experience a healthier LIFE.

Conclusion: A Healthier Brain means a Healthier Theology equals a Healthier LIFE.

    Although there are important nuances to Neurotheological Biblical Counseling — such as the qualifications to counsel or methods of coaching — Neurotheological Biblical Counseling is simply the ministry of the sufficient WORD of GOD tailored to both the biological and Soulological needs of GOD's people. Neurotheological Biblical Counseling works through the "renewing of the mind." Neurotheological Biblical Soulology is a "study of "science of the Brain (mind) and Soul." 

    Unlike secular psychology, Neurotheological Biblical Counseling cares about the whole person body and Soul. (Gen. 2:7) Neurotheological Biblical Counseling is committed to the fact that to engage in “theology”, one must poses a functional Brain and be committed to the authority of GOD's WORD to articulate the nature of the Soul (NSHMH) ! This TRUTH is where Neurotheological Biblical Counseling differs from secular psychology. 

   Secular psychotherapy only focused on the body in that medication is the answer to the hole in the human behavior never even looking at the biology of the brain before proscribing medications to alter brain chemistry to change behavior. Example: ADHD, Depression, Anxiety and many other "Behavioral Disorders" as "they" call them.

    GOD’s WORD as Authoritative Truth: It must be said that all Neurotheological Biblical Counseling sees GOD's WORD as being the final authority of Truth, that morality is absolute and not evolutionary or utilitarian, and how we know Truth. GOD's WORD is the lens through which we should view the world, including human behavior. This TRUTH means that we are committed to GOD's articulation of the Soul (Deu. 2:7), human motivation, and human behavior as authoritative over any form of competing truth claims about these issues. We cannot espouse another seemingly authoritative truth over human behavior and trust that, in so doing, we elevate the wisdom of man only through the Truth of GOD when we are asked, 

    Neurotheological Biblical Counseling method: helping you to see actual change comes from "renewing of the mind (soul)," (Gen. 2:7) which starts by assessing Brain Health and then requires allowing the breath (NShMH נשימה) of YHVH, our GOD (bless his name), which regenerates, giving authority and power to change your thinking, causing a change in your behavior.

   Rabbi, Dr. Rich Friedel, D.M., Ph.D., Th.D., CBHP, is the Friedel Clinic's Managing Member and the Managing Rabbi at Joshua Bible College. Rabbi Rich first became involved in brain health issues in 2003 when his mother was misdiagnosed. At the time, Rabbi Rich and his sisters were told by their mother's primary care doctor that she was just old and possibly suffering from old age and simple cognitive decline. However, Rabbi Rich and his sisters knew there was something more at work here than simple age-related decline. 

   While visiting his mother and sisters in Tampa, Rabbi Rich ran into an old undergraduate friend, a practicing physician who attended Cornell Medical School. After a conversation, this friend directed Rabbi Rich to the University of South Florida Alzheimer's study department. Rabbi Rich and his oldest sister were invited to a clinical workshop with a dozen medical professionals to learn about Alzheimer's disease. It became very evident at that time to Rabbi Rich that this was a horrendous disease, and it was exactly what his mother was suffering from. 

   Rabbi Rich, having learned the seven stages of Alzheimer's, immediately started studying the cause of this disease and why it was undetectable by most of the medical practitioners that he encountered while serving his mother. Rabbi Rich spent several years studying brain health issues and, on that learning path, met several doctors at the Amen Clinics. These doctors encouraged Rabbi Rich to learn more about brain health issues at Amen University. Upon completing the 50-credit-hour postgraduate education program at Amen University, Rabbi Rich became a Certified Brain Health Professional. That education led Rabbi Rich to expand Friedel Clinic into brain health over the next several years. Today, we still do not understand the cause sufficiently to prevent Alzheimer's more than we did in 1906 when Dr. Alzheimer discovered the disease. 

   Rabbi Rich has dedicated the last 20+ years to learning how to help those struggling to understand and develop Better Brain Health, because a Healthier Brain means a Healthier Life. 

   As managing member of the Friedel Clinic (one of the largest drug & alcohol testing facilities in Montana) watched God's family (our brothers and sisters) encounter trials, suffering, and dysfunction, he know that God's ministers are called to help them. It has been written; Teaching in their synagogues (community centers), and healing every disease and every affliction. When we see the crowds, we need to have compassion for them because they are harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.
